About the university
In 1922, some artists from Abruzzo, including composers Camillo De Nardis and Primo Riccitelli, and painters Michele Cascella and Francesco Paolo Michetti, formed a musical corporation dedicated to the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, Luisa. In 1933 the institute became a Moral Entity and on October 30, 1935, it officially started the activity of Liceo Musicale. The definitive move to the Institute of Artistic and Music Education, which took place in 1999, confirmed that role of reference in the cultural and artistic landscape of the territory, realizing what was once the sincere, passionate hope of the chairman of the Pescara Musician Antonino Liberi , Who, addressing D'Annunzio in March 1927, expressed the wish that Luisa [became] of national importance, the Italian Music University, to which all the political, artistic, financial, and journalistic authorities [... ] ".
