This programme is designed for students who love Physics for the beauty and complexity of its laws, for its unifying language, for the variety of physical phenomena, for its countless applications; it is also a programme for people who wish to apply what they learn to contexts that improve the quality of life in our society. You will become a physical engineer, a professional combining engineering and physics, capable of working rapidly and with expertise within the most advanced sectors of applied physics and able to use advanced technology devices and equipment based on innovative physical phenomena (e.g., quantum devices, devices for micro- and nanotechnology and for microelectronics, for telecommunications, for information and data collection and processing). A physical engineer actively participates in processes of technological development, which are currently characterized by a growing rapidity between a scientific discovery and its applications, and an increasing level of innovation. The degree programme offers a solid and multidisciplinary scientific education (as required of any engineer) useful to understand and apply the most interesting phenomena of advanced physics. It combines the basic skills of modern Information Engineering with a solid mathematical and physical training, while the thematic courses of the second and third year allow students to become familiar with some of the most interesting problems of contemporary physics. Several courses include laboratory activities. The degree programme also offers the possibility to do optional reserach internships in industries and/or research institutions.
