About the university
The Order of the Servants of Mary in 1895 had founded the Collegio Sant'Alessio Falconieri, which in 1928 was transferred to the current Trenta Aprile Avenue no. 6, in Rome. On November 30, 1950, Pope Pius XII raised the Theological School of the College of Sant'Alessio Falconieri to the rank of the Faculty of Theology reserved for the Friars Servants of Mary. After the five years of trial, with the decree Caelesti honorandae Reginae (December 8, 1955), the Faculty of Theology with the title of "Marianum" was finally erected. With the decree Theologicas Collegii S. Alexii Falconierii scholas, promulgated by the Congregation for Catholic Education on 1 January 1971, the Theological Faculty "Marianum" assumed the title of "pontificia", and with it all the honors, rights and duties granted To the other Pontifical Universities and Universities, the wide possibility of enrolling clerical, religious and lay students, and the faculty of conferring them theoretical degrees in theology and theology with the qualification of "specialization in Mariology".
