About the university
1978 IAAD opened first Italian the specialization “Car body architecture”, today “Transportation design”. Since 2008 the Department of “Transportation Design” is entitled to Andrea Pininfarina. 2000 IAAD renews management. The new Director, Laura Milani, resets and develops, enabling collaborations with companies, associations and public authorities for the development of cultural projects, research, educational and work experience, with the firm intention to ensure that training is constantly updated and qualitatively high level . The goal is the accreditation of the university within a national and international. 2005 Teaching opens the European and international dimension, getting accreditation EABHES – European Accreditation Board of Higher Education Schools, which allows you to activate IAAD courses for obtaining evidence of formal European Bachelor and Master of Science in Design. The titles of Bachelor and Master of IAAD are in accordance with European university credit system ECTS – European Credits Transfer System. 2008 In the year in which Turin is the first World Design Capital, IAAD turns 30 and celebrates with Italdesign Giugiaro, who turns 40 the same year. From this fortunate combination is born a project, carried out jointly by IAAD and Giugiaro and donated to the city of Turin, a journey of discovery through the Turin contemporary design and proper placement of 35 new public sessions. 2010 IAAD, in collaboration with ISIA Florence and thanks to a large support committee made up of government agencies in Turin and Piedmont, schools, industry and national associations and companies national and international partners, which operates the first Italian bachelor course in “Design of sustainable mobility and transport” (180 credits CFA). 2012 IAAD signs an important strategic partnership with the French group Écoles de Condé, with premises in Paris, Nice, Lyon, Nancy and Bordeaux. The courses in Italy and France add up and open to students of both universities: thus wide range of training consistent with the specificity of their respective territories, with cross-cutting workshops and the opportunity to continue their studies at different sites. 2013 IAAD bachelor courses are officially accredited by the Ministry of Education, University and Research as an Academic Diploma Level I (180 CFA) with 5 possible specializations: Product Design, Interior Design, Textile and Fashion Design, Transportation Design , Communication Design. The academic year 2013-2014 begins its new headquarters in the neighborhood Aurora, within the new Lavazza headquarters, with 3,000 square meters available for education, exhibitions, conferences and events. The work of regeneration and restoration of the site are taken care of by the architect Cino Zucchi with the Turin studio Peak Architects. The interiors are designed by students and furnished by Poltrona Frau, Lago and L’Abbate. 2014 IAAD activates the first edition of the Bachelor in “Textile and Fashion Design” (worth 180 credits CFA). The course responds to the demand of the international market of professionals prepared to interface with the many facets of the fashion market. 2015 IAAD activates the first edition of the Bachelor in “Digital communication design” (180 credits CFA) and presents it officially at the MTV Digital Days. The main objective of the course is to train professionals capable of dialoguing with the public through digital media and computer science: web platforms, mobile application, multimedia, games and interactive applications, digital signage, virtual and augmented reality, semantic ontologies , entertainment. 2016 Giorgetto Giugiaro adds a new task to his spectacular CV. IAAD entrusted him with the chairmanship of the Transportation Design Department and at the announcement press conference, many of the world of four wheels, from Lorenzo Ramaciotti to Chris Bangle, and a large delegation from his beloved Italdesign came to celebrate him at Mauto. The Mayor Piero Fassino, who is trying with others to propose Turin as the new hotbed of design, and not just automotive, welcomed him
