National Academy of Santa Cecilia

Only an example among the Italian academies of Renaissance origin, which has assumed the appearance of a modern and productive company, the current Academy, which has become a foundation since 1998, alongside an academic body made up of 70 actual members and 30 honorary members. Major Italian and foreign musicians, an orchestra and a symphony choir known and appreciated all over the world. It is therefore a combination of promotion of culture and musical heritage, a top-notch educational tradition and above all an ever-expanding internationally renowned concert activity. Between 1990 and 2000, there were about one hundred concerts of the year to the present two hundred and fifty, articulated in two seasons, symphony and chamber, to which are added a summer season, exhibitions of a popular character ("Tutti a Santa Cecilia" , For children and teenagers from the neonatal age to the school of every order and degree), a repertoire other than "Cecilia It's Wonderful", a repertoire of choral and polyphonic repertoire, as well as thematic festivals and tours in Italy abroad. For the didactic and training activity, following the recent reform of the Music Conservators, the National Academy of Santa Cecilia begins to become a center of excellence for the high musical formation. Other courses will then be added shortly to the traditional high education courses set up by law of 1939, which have always been accompanied by specialization courses and masterclasses, including a lyric laboratory entrusted to Renata Scotto. The historical heritage, completely reorganized and cataloged according to the latest technology, was transferred from February 2005 to the new bibliophysicist, while in 2008 the inauguration of MUSA, the Musical Instruments Museum of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia One of the leading Italian collections of instruments, whose most valuable pieces are now visible in the exhibition gallery.
