About the university
The International University of Kagoshima was founded in1932 by Teisuke Tsumagari(1879-1949) as the first institution of higher education for commerce and economics in Kagoshima. His successor, Sadao Tsumagari (1915-1983), set up the faculty of sociology, which became the faculty of social welfare in April 2001. The Tsumagari family's 3rd-generation representative, Sadaharu Tsumagari(1919-2003), established the graduate school and faculty of intercultural studies. The university currently consists of a graduate school and 3 faculties, which is friends with variety of universities worldwide including Australia, Canada, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United States, and United Kingdom.
