About the university
October 26, 1964, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan and the Council of Ministers of the Republic adopted a resolution on the organization of the Medical Institute. Since January 6, 2009, JSC "Kazakh Medical Academy" has been transformed into JSC "Medical University Astana". The Academy trains more than 3,000 students. More than 450 teachers, including doctors and candidates of sciences, conduct scientific-pedagogical and medical-diagnostic work at the departments of the Academy. Training of scientific and pedagogical staff of high qualification in doctoral studies, postgraduate study, clinical residency is successfully conducted. At the academy there is a military department. The Academy has modern clinical facilities including the National Medical Center, the Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the preventive treatment facilities in Astana, the North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions. The largest in the region library with the necessary fund of educational, scientific and fiction is functioning. There is a computer center.
