About the university
By 1900, Mexico City is divided into 8 major quarters and 32 smaller, politico-administrative demarcations whose origin comes from the viceroyal system. However, the symptoms of overpopulation that begins to suffer at the beginning of the century raise the need to solve the housing demands of a society that expands by leaps and bounds. This urban phenomenon, combined with the economic liberalism of General Diaz, results in the first real estate companies of our country. In 1903, the federal government granted the Land Company of the Calzada de Chapultepec, SA the permission to divide the estates of Potrero de la Romita, now known as Colonia Roma. These lands, originally owned by the Lascurain family, had previously been bought by the real estate company which, with a capital of $ 800,000.00, was represented by Pedro Lascurain, Gabriel Morton, Cassius C. Lamm, Edward N. Brown and Edward Orrin. In addition to its participation in the aforementioned real estate, Orrin and Lascurain, together with Porfirio Díaz Jr., form the Company of the Colonia Condesa, SA and in partnership with Cassius, Oscar and Lewis Lamm, constitute the Company of Colonia Roma Sur, SA
