About the university
On April 12, 2002, the then Governor of the State, Mr. Armando López Nogales, signed a decree creating a Higher Education Institution in the heart of the mountain region of our state: They were beginning to crystallize The dreams of many residents of the region, to have an institution of this educational level. This new institution would take the name of University of the Mountain range and would be nailed in the Municipality of Moctezuma. On September 1, the previously arid and inhospitable plains of the north of the municipal seat, were swarmed by hundreds of young people, who, on the first day, were hoping for classes: The Sierra de Sonora was opening its new University.
