About the university
The State Medical and Pharmaceutical University named after Nicolae Testemitanu of the Republic of Moldova is the scientific, curative and cultural center of university and post-graduate training of doctors and pharmacists through a residency in the country. The Nicolae Testemitanu HMFU was founded on the basis of the St. Petersburg Medical Institute No. 1, evacuated during the Second World War in Kislovodsk, which was later transferred to Chisinau together with students and faculty called the Chisinau State Medical Institute. The Institute began its activity on October 20, 1945, having only one faculty - medical, which included 32 departments, attended by about 1,000 students. The students were trained by 132 teachers, including 20 doctors of medical sciences and 23 candidates of medical sciences.
