About the university
The Higher Institute of Information and Communication is the oldest Moroccan university institute of training in journalism and communication. It is the only public educational institution in this field. It was in April 1969 that the idea of setting up an institution devoted to the training and development of journalists came into being. At the initiative of the German foundation Friedrich Naumann and in close collaboration with the Moroccan government, the Training Center for Journalists (CFJ) opened its doors in 1969. The mission of this ISIC ancestor was to retrain journalists In the media, radio, television and the Maghreb Arab Press Agency. In September 1977, change of vocation and manager: The Friedrich Naumann Foundation passes the witness to the Ministry of Information and the CFJ officially becomes the Higher Institute of Journalism: a public institution of the higher education specialized in the training to the trades Of journalism. The training lasted four years and was sanctioned by examinations and a dissertation. Two specialties were offered to students - journalists: print media and audiovisual (radio and TV). In 1989, the ISJ underwent its first reform: introduction of a higher cycle open to the holders of a license, students or civil servants in place of the normal cycle destined for the baccalauréat holders. On October 26, 1996, the Higher Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC) was born with a main objective: to open to business communication and consolidate training in journalism. To better tailor training according to market needs, the normal cycle: bac + 4 has been reintroduced. The Dahir establishing the Higher Institute of Information and Communication was adopted by the Council of Ministers on 28 November 1996.
