Speech Pathology is a degree programme which covers the content of education concerning speech disorders. After its completion it is possible to conduct speech therapies, diagnosis and therapies related to detecting speech disorder in the course of therapy, in particular, among children at the pre-school and school age. The students gain the following knowledge and skills: carrying out the prevention method of speech disorders and diagnosing speech disorders that consist in gathering data related to speech disorder occurring in a tested person. They are able to explain the causes of observed non-standard symptoms with the use of linguistic, medical, and psychological knowledge. A significant part of the conducted education also involves equipping the students in the skills of planning and carrying out speech therapy sessions. In order to fulfil these tasks, issues related to linguistics, medicine and psychology as well as pedagogy are resolved in the course of studies which becomes the knowledge base and methodological skills referring to strictly speech therapy-related actions. The studies are of inter-disciplinary nature basically humanistic, interfering into linguistic-medical-psychological-pedagogical knowledge with the latest achievements of the Polish and world speech therapy field. This educational offer is addressed to people who want to gain qualifications in the profession of speech therapist and, at the same time, develop their own interpersonal competencies and creative abilities in contacts with other people.
