The degree in Communication Science aims to provide training in the main areas existing in the disciplinary group of Communication Science, and is composed of two variants of specialization, which constitute alternative paths of study in order to obtain the diploma: Specialization in Organizational Communication and Studies in Journalism. The degree thus offers a strong practical component oriented towards the acquisition of specific skills, seeking to speed up the response to an increasingly competitive and demanding social and business environment. This cycle of studies is inherited from Communication and Cultural Sciences (with more than 25 years of training students) and enters into operation in the year 2021-2022, keeping in force, for 2nd and 3rd year students, the previous study plan. This cycle of studies is pedagogically designed to provide knowledge, skills and competences that are fundamental valences in the labor market and in research. In all the CU's a theoretical and practical assessment methodology is used, which enables students to follow the pedagogical contents and acquire the usual practices in the business world. The Specialization in Organizational Communication provides skills that allow the development of marketing/advertising campaigns; the design and implementation of communication strategies and of an integrated product management policy. The Specialization in Journalism Studies aims at the adequacy of knowledge to the technological devices associated with the practice of journalism and the increase of other knowledge necessary for the activity. This cycle of studies bets on a basic training in two years in the different areas of communication sciences, privileging an intense specialization in the third year of the degree. This curricular organization allows the student to contact and acquire general and specific skills that are essential for the current labor context. The introduction of Some of the area of computational thinking will allow students a set of transversal skills, necessary for a technological society in constant evolution.
