Pedigree of the Chernihiv National Pedagogical University named after TG Shevchenko reaches the Chernigov collegium, founded in 1700 on the model of the Kiev-Mohyla Academy. In 1786, the collegium was reorganized into a theological seminary, which, like its predecessor, continued to train teachers. The teacher training institute (in 1916), which started its activity as an educational institution above the middle type, adopted the baton in the preparation of teachers. In subsequent years, the Institute was repeatedly reorganized (Institute of Public Education - 1920, Institute of Social Education - 1930, Pedagogical - 1933, Teacher - 1935, United Teachers and Teachers - 1939). In 1954 the institute was reorganized into pedagogical and operated until March 13, 1998, before granting him a new status of the Chernigov State Pedagogical University named after TG Shevchenko. In the Chernihiv National Pedagogical University named after T. Shevchenko today there are: - 4000 students of the hospital and correspondence department; - 39 specialties and specializations.
