About the university
The Protestant University Institute of Yaoundé, known as the Protestant University of Central Africa and abbreviated UPAC, is a confessional and international higher education institution. The decision to create a Protestant University in Central Africa dates back to 1959 in Brazzaville in the People's Republic of Congo. During this year, eleven Protestant Churches in Africa and the American and European Mission Societies had deemed it necessary to initially create a Faculty of Protestant Theology and later a full university in Yaounde in Cameroon with a mission Specific objectives and specific objectives. This Faculty was inaugurated on 17 February 1962 by President Ahmadou Ahidjo, as the first University Institution in Cameroon.
