The aim of the vocational Master programme of Regional Development and Public Administration is to produce highly qualified professionals for all levels of positions in the national and local administration, as well as in business, consulting, non-profit organisations or in the EU administration. The programme concept reflects the development tendencies in the field of regional development and public administration with the emphasize on enhanced effectiveness and growing significance of e-government in administration and trends in regional development, particularly programming and implementation of operation programmes. In addition to expert knowledge the programme emphasizes practical skills the students will require in their future job positions. From this point the aims of the programme are to produce skilled experts ready to join the practice in positions requiring Master degree in public administration, regional administration or in various management positions. The emphasis on practical skills of the graduates permeates the whole programme both in theoretical subjects (where the students get the professional expertise focused on implementing the theoretical knowledge into practical use) and in practical part of the programme. Most lectures are accompanied with seminars (or workshops) where the students apply the learnt theoretical knowledge on practical problems. Seminars and workshops are often lead by professionals able to reflect actual issues and challenges the graduates may encounter in their future work assignments. In compliance with the requirements of the Czech law regulating vocational study programmes a significant part of the programme is dedicated to practical learning in various positions in the public administration and regional development. Graduates will be able to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of economic and region-based data and information from the public administration databases, compile plans, manage the development of municipalities and/or regions as well as identify the development potential of municipalities and regions, apply the principles of regional development in the national and local administration policies and implement their knowledge of current management approaches.
