About the university
The university of agriculture of Kétou (UAK), a thematic university is created by decree N ° 213-140 of 20 March 2013. It was born of a political will of the head of the State, Dr. Yayi BONI to endow Benin of such an academic institution. After a tour of President Yayi BONI in Asia at the University of Hanoi (Viet Nam) and his visit to the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST) Laboratory of Plant Biotechnology at Abomey-Calavi University Professors Agbangla Clement and Ahanhanzo Corneille, the Head of State expressed the wish that the leaders of this laboratory visit the laboratory of the same type in Hanoi. Professors Agbangla Clément and Ahanhanzo Corneille therefore made a visit to Hanoi. Their mission report was translated into a communication adopted by the Council of Ministers on December 6, 2007, which decided to set up a university of agriculture in Benin. Following this, the Dean of the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences (FSA), Professor Jean Thimotée Claude Codjia and his collaborators, took up the matter to begin by working in this direction. Here are the different stages of its creation : - The organization of a workshop on reflection in Komiguéya (N'Dali- Benin) from 05 to 06 May 2008 to lay the foundations for this new agricultural university. This workshop brought together teachers from the University of Abomey-Calavi (FSA, EPAC, FAST) of the University of Parakou (FA) and researchers from the National Institute of Agronomic Research INRAB).
