About the university
A group of intellectuals, academics and businessmen undertook the task of shaping the idea that emerged in 1974 , to create a new private university. Three years had to wait for the consolidation of the idea would allow jump-start the project when the group of founders was complete proceeded to give life to the new legal entity. The event was important resonance in national events, as given the critical conditions that lived the country in general and the university community in particular, the effort undertaken represented a commitment not only open to other options within the closed environment of higher education of then, but a high-risk gamble in a national climate in which threats and flashed a conflict that would break just three years later. On 15 September 1977 the San Salvador was founded in Universidad Dr. Jose Matias Delgado , date that also is in conformity with the law of Private Universities, as a public utility corporation for the benefit of Salvadoran society.
