About the university
The "Edgar Faure" law of 12 November 1968, named after the then Minister of Education, marks a break in French education by redefining the status of universities. In particular, it creates the Teaching and Research Units (EBU). In 1970, following this law, the Faculty of Science of Montpellier became the University of Sciences and Techniques of Languedoc (USTL) and then University Montpellier 2, now called the University of Montpellier. The EBU IV "Management and Continuing Education Unit" is then created with the aim of "providing to certain scientific and technical sectors of the economy managers at different levels and up to the highest level". In 1970-1971, within this EBU IV, a MIAGE and four STDs were created, leading to a Bac + 5 engineer diploma following a year of additional training.
