University Institute of Technology of Nîmes

The IUT of Nîmes is an institute of technological education based in Nîmes ( rue Jules Raimu , district of Saint-Césaire). It is a component of the University of Montpellier Since its creation in 1968 with the opening of the three historic departments, Electrical and Industrial Engineering (GEII), Civil Engineering (GC) and Mechanical and Productivity Engineering (GMP), followed by the Departments of Enterprise and Government Management in 1991 (GEA ) And Science and Materials Engineering in 1996 (SGM), the University Institute of Technology of Nîmes awarded more than 20,000 diplomas to students. The institute has played an important role in the socio-economic world of the Languedoc-Roussillon region by offering technological and professional training adapted to local and regional needs. The IUT of Nîmes has been autonomous since 1992. Since 1 January 2015 the University of Montpellier 2 , whose IUT of Nîmes was a component, merged with the " University of Montpellier 1 . Henceforth, the two united universities are called: University of Montpellier . The teachers and technical staff of the Nîmes IUT have a strong involvement in the creation of training courses. It offers technical training at the Bac + 2 level (5 Diplômes Universitaire de Technologie, DUT ) and a bac + 3 level (13 Professional licenses ), a Polytech'Montpellier engineering training course is hosted at the IUT.
