About the university
With the Hessian state financial school in Rotenburg Castle, the Hessian financial administration school in Rotenburg was already established in 1953. This institution was followed by the "Education and Training Center of the Hessian State Administration" as the forerunner of the VFHS on September 1, 1973. A high-rise building with thirteen floors was erected for them, which still determines Rotenburg's location. On January 1, 1980, the "training and further education center of the Hessian State Administration" was converted into the administrative college of Rotenburg. From the beginning it was a joint university of the Hessian finance and justice administration. In 1994, the Justice Department of Thuringia transferred the responsibility for its legal education to VFHS. With the new classroom building and three new residential blocks, the university's facilities were significantly expanded in 2000 and brought up to date. On 1 January 2006 the VFHS was integrated into the Studienzentrum Rotenburg. As of January 1, 2011, the Fachhochschule was renamed the Huldische Hochschule für Finanzen und Rechtspflege in Rotenburg an der Fulda.
