The university, the full German name of which is Bergische Universität Wuppertal (BUW), was formed in 1972 and is located in the city of Wuppertal, within the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. In 2014/15 it had almost 20,000 students in a wide range of subjects with many interdisciplinary linkages in 7 faculties.
