About the university
The Mariano Gálvez University of Guatemala is a private higher education institution in Guatemala. His name refers to the new and pre-established jurisconsult Doctor José Mariano Gálvez (Head of State of Guatemala 1831-1838), founder of the Academy of Studies and reformer of Guatemalan education, who promoted important innovations in all orders of state life . He fought for teaching as a layman, was founder of the National Library and Museum, respected individual laws and guarantees, freedom of the press and the emission of thought. In accordance with its Institutional principles, the Mariano Gálvez University essentially attends to the ethical, scientific, professional and technical education of students, through the integrated exercise of teaching, research and service to the community, the promotion of Research as a source of knowledge and progress and the study of problems in order to contribute to their solution.
