About the university
The creation of the Rural University of Guatemala was visualized from the first five years of the eighties and has its origin in a diagnosis and forecast of the agricultural and forestry education of the country, prepared for the Strategy Commission attached to the National Association of Agronomists , ANDEPA, which conceived the creation of the National Central School of Agriculture (ENCA), as a constitutional body. The work team that participated in the realization of the constitutional autonomy of the ENCA was the one that was formed to start the foundation of the University. The Rural University of Guatemala was authorized on March 28, 1995, by the Council of Private Higher Education. This opened a new chapter of higher education in Guatemala, as a new university of Guatemalan society emerged, after twenty-three years that the last University of the country had been approved.
