Founded in 1962, Universitas Islam Riau (Islamic University of Riau) is a private higher education institution located in the medium-sized city of Pekanbaru (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Riau. Officially accredited/recognized by the Kementerian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi (Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia), Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) is a medium-sized (enrollment range: 7,000-7,999 students) coeducational higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees in several areas of study. UIR also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sport facilities and/or activities, as well as administrative services.
