About the university
Polytechnic as an educational institution first entered in the repertoire of education in Indonesia through the Technical Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of the Confederation of Switzerland dated December 16, 1973 under the name of Mechanical Polytechnic Institute of Technology Bandung. The purpose of establishment of this Polytechnic to support industrial development in Indonesia through technical education. The education program emphasizes practical application on industrial / technolog especially in the field of precision mechanics for production tools (manufacturing tools), maintenance / repair of production machines, and drawings of machinery design. The education program lasts for three years and is tiered. The first two for the basic level and the following year according to specialization to produce skilled technicians. The first two-year graduate program (primary level) is awarded a certificate and a third-year graduate program (specialization) obtains a state-recognized diploma. Educational program in January 1976 and named polytechnic Swiss Mechanics ITB, endorsement of the Swiss Mechanical Polytechnics ITB education conducted by SK Mendikbud.
