Muhammadiyah University of Metro

The existence of Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro (UM Metro) is based on integration with: (1) Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Muhammadiyah Metro (2) Sekolah Tinggi Ekonomi Muhammadiyah Metro, (3) Sekolah Tinggi Teknik Muhammadiyah Metro, and (4) Sekolah Tinggi Ushuluddin Muhammadiyah Metro. The recognizition of four colleges has been obtained and accredited by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 1990. After the merger, the four colleges subsequently became the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), the Faculty of Economics (FE), The Faculty of Engineering (FT) and the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) in which Faculty of Usuluddin (FU) was named after. To anticipate the needs of professional staff in the community, the 1997/1998 academic year a Diploma (D-3) Computer Informatics Management program was developed, and in the next following period within 2002/2003 academic year the Faculty of Law was officially opened for the public, then English Language Study Program, Diploma-3 Accounting, and Financial Management and Banking. Moreover, the development of the last four years directed toward on the increae of academic level program. Establishing in 2012, master program in Biology Education has officially opened, followed by the Master of Management Study Program in 2013, and Master of Education Management Study Program in 2014. Subsequently, in 2017, UM Metro re-opened three Departments simultaneously namely Bachelor degree of Computer Science Program, Islamic Education Management and Early Childhood Islamic Education. In the same year, a new faculty has named under the Faculty of Computer Science by overseeing 2 Departments, namely the Computer Science Study Program and Diploma 3 Information Management which now becomes Information Systems. In 2019, UM Metro is able to assist a Professional Teacher Education (PPG) programme for two Departments; the Economic Education Study Program and the Historical Education Study Program.
