Universitas Airlangga

Airlangga University (abbreviated UNAIR) is a state university located in Surabaya, East Java. The university was founded on November 10, 1954 to coincide with the day of the 9th hero. Based on the data of September 30, 2015, there are 38,047 students enrolled in Unair.Berdiriinya Airlangga University has a long history. Before Unair was officially established, on 9 and 11 October 1847, a proposal was submitted to the Dutch Colonial Government to educate gifted Javanese youths into health practice experts. On January 2, 1849, through Government Decree no. 22, founded NIAS (Nederlandsch Indische Artsen School) [need a reference] as a place of doctor's education in Surabaya. Since 1913, doctoral education in Surabaya took place on Jl. Kedungdoro 38 Surabaya. In 1923 the NIAS building was moved from Jl. Kedungdoro to the establishment of Faculty of Medicine Unair on Jl. Major General. Prof. Dr. Moestopo Surabaya. Lonkhuizen, Chief Medical Officer of the time, proposed to establish a School of Dentistry in Surabaya which was pioneered from July 1928 to 1945. R.J.F. Van Zaben, Director of NIAS. Next, the school is better known as STOVIT (School Tot Opleiding Van Indische Tandarsten). At that time, STOVIT managed to collect 21 students. In its journey, STOVIT changed its name to Ika Daigaku Shika with Dr. Takeda as his first Director, served between 1942-1945.
