About the university
Al Washliyah University (UNIVA) Medan, North Sumatra, is one of the universities in North Sumatra established on May 18, 1958. Initially aims to provide opportunities for students who have completed high school education, Al Qismul`Ali or Muallimin. The birth of UNIVA at the time is the dream of Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah residents are: Alm.H.M.Arsyad Thalib, Alm H.Adnan Lubis, H.Udin Syamsuddin, Alm.H.M.Nurdin, OK.H Abdu Aziz and others. Land Complex UNIVA is a waqaf of the believers from various parties, which is intended for the benefit of the development of science and Islamic culture. On June 1, 1958 the UNIVA building was used by the government for the PGAI (Islamic Religious Education) school. After UNIVA was three years old was born Law No.22 of 1961 whose contents every university must have a legal entity in the form of foundation. On the basis of the rules and laws was born Al-Washliyah University Foundation which is actualized to Notary P.Batubara in Medan on November 9, 1962.
