About the university
ince 1996, Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) of Sukabumi was conferred by Muhammadiyah Regional Deliberation to establish higher education. However, within five years since the regional consultation was decided, PDM has not been able to make it happen. After the review and feasibility study, the Sukabumi PDM Meeting, dated December 1, 2000, decided to immediately realize the Regional Consultative Decree of Muhammadiyah 1996 Namely founded Muhammadiyah University Sukabumi abbreviated as UMMI with temporary campus at that time at Muhammadiyah Perguruan Building R. Syamsudin, SH. No. 59 Sukabumi. The desire to establish UMMI received a positive response from the Local Government of Kota and Kabupaten Sukabumi in the hope that Muhammadiyah can pioneer the development of human resources (HR) relevant to the demands of development in the future. Even the district government will provide 20 hectares of campus land in Pelabuhan Ratu, if established there. Considering the establishment of higher education in Pelabuhan Ratu is not yet possible, then because of the removal of the Capital of Sukabumi District moved to Pelabuhan Ratu, the Local Government of Sukabumi Regency offers the former office complex of district office in Jalan R. Syamsudin, SH.
