About the university
Atma Jaya University of Makassar as an institution of higher education run by Atma Jaya Higher Education Foundation, established by Notary Deed No. Joost Dumanauw. 17 dated June 9, 1980 (later renewed by notarial deed No. 68 of Sitske Limowa No. 14 dated February 14, 1985). On this basis the Founding Committee of Atma Jaya University Makassar, coordinated by Prof. Dr. C. Salombe and Prof. Mr. Teng Tjin Leng made preparations and efforts of the establishment of Universitas Atma Jaya Makassar. Thanks to the hard work of the Committee, and the blessing of KAUP Makassar Church Guardian, Mgr. Dr. Frans van Roessel and the support of various parties including Local Government, Atma Jaya University Makassar starting academic year 1981/1982, based on Coordinator Letter of Kopertis Region VII No. 085/1981 dated July 14, 1981, began his academic activities.
