About the university
Levinsky College of Education (LCE) was established in 1912 in Tel Aviv by the Hovevei Zion (Lovers of Zion) movement. Its name perpetuates the memory of writer, journalist and Zionist activist Elhanan Leib Levinsky (1857-1911). LCE focuses on teacher training with an emphasis on preservice training as well as in-service continuing education for practicing teachers. The College offers a variety of Bachelor's programs in education (B.Ed.), programs to retrain academics for careers in education, Master's programs in education (M.Ed., M.Teach), as well as special programs geared towards specific populations. These programs are conducted within LCE's Faculty of Education, Faculty of Music Education, Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, International School and School for Continuing Education. LCE, a subsidiary of the Jewish Agency for Israel, was founded with the support of the Women's Division of the New York United Jewish Appeal. Donations are considered a gift to a non-profit organization and are tax deductible.
