About the university
Lifshitz College of Education, a pioneer training teachers for religious education, was established in 5681 1920 by the initiative of the Department for Education of the World Zionist Organization in, and backed by the then chief rabbies of Eretz Yisrael: Avraham Yitzhak haKohen Kook ZT"L and Ben-ZionMeir_Hai Uziel ZT"L . In the school year of 1996, 5756 Lifshitz College was recognized as an institution of higher learning authorizing it to award the degree of B.Ed and a teaching certificate. The degree allows the student to pursue a Master's degree in the subjects of his specialty, and in education in the various universities. In 5769 The Council for Higher Education authorized the college to establish a Master's program in education and teaching (M.ed) including two study tracks whose aim is training a senior staff for Jewish Education.
