About the university
Aichi University of Education began as the Aichi Prefectural Academy in 1873, later developing into several Normal Schools over the period of three quarters of a century. In 1949 it became one of the new National Universities consolidating under the name of Aichi Gakugei University all the Normal schools in the area. A period of sustained development began in 1966 when the name Aichi University of Education was adopted. In accordance with the enforcement of the National University Corporation Law, the university has been incorporated as the National University Corporation Aichi University of Education since April, 2004. As an educational organization to achieve the university’s objective, it offers 4 types of Teacher Training Programs and the Programs in Contemporary Liberal Arts and Sciences which consists of 6 courses. In addition, it has two types of graduate schools: Gradutate School of Education(including 13 Master’s Programs and 1 Doctoral Program which was established in 2012) and Graduate School of Practitioners in Education.
