About the university
1915 Yasuda Educational Foundation (Formerly known as Hiroshima Practical Girls’ School) was founded by Ryo Yasuda. 1955 Yasuda Women’s College, Department of Early Childhood Education was established. 1961 Yasuda Women’s College expanded to include the Department of Home Economics. 1966 Yasuda Women’s University, Faculty of Letters was established. The faculty was composed of the Department of Department of Japanese Language and Literature (The department is now known as the Department of Japanese Language and Literature) and the Department of English and American Literature. 1975 The Faculty of Letters expanded to include the Department of Primary Education. 1984 The Department of English and American Literature was reorganized and renamed the Department of English and American Language and Literature (The department is now known as Department of English Language and Literature).
