About the university
AIT was founded in 1967 on a philosophy of wa, 'Harmony is to be valued,' which was advocated by the 6th century ardent Buddhist and politician Prince Shotoku. AIT is located in the city of Ashikaga which is richly endowed by nature and well known for the remains of Ashikaga Gakko or Japan's oldest academic institution. It has long been dedicated to engineering education and has turned out 'thinking engineers' since its foundation. Our superb faculty of dedicated professors offers finely textured education, especially in their seminars. They are engaged in a number of world-class, groundbreaking, and unique research projects, along with a deep commitment to nurturing competent and skilled engineering specialists. On top of that, AIT is renowned for its high job placement rate. We are now in the 21st century which is often referred to as the age of life and environment. In order to respond to the demands of the present age, we reorganized our department in April 2011 to make a new start. AIT truly strives to have an impact on the communities we serve and help its students become the professionals and leaders of tomorrow.
