About the university
Chonnam National University was established in 1952 as a comprehensive university of Korea in Gwangju, Jeollanamdo, Yeosu and Hwasun Gun. There are campuses in Gwangju, Yeosu and Hwasun, and this campus is located in Yongbong-dong, Gwangju Metropolitan City. As of 2017, there are 16 colleges (13 in Gwangju, 3 in Yeosu), 1 independent undergraduate, 1 general graduate school, 5 special graduate schools and special graduate schools. As president of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea, the president receives the ministerial courtesy.
