About the university
Kyonggi University (KGU) was established in 1947 in the form of the Choyang Kindergarten Teacher School. The founder of KGU, Dr. Sang-kyo Son, established the Kyonggi Institute in 1957 and then Kyonggi College on March 1, 1964 in Seoul. The Suwon Campus opened in 1979, and Kyonggi College was upgraded to Kyonggi University on October 5, 1984. KGU now includes 10 c0lleges: Humanities, Law, Social Sciences, Economics and Business Administration, Tourism Sciences, International Studies, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Arts, and Physical Education. KGU also provides comprehensive graduate school programs - 69 master's programs and 48 doctoral programs. Various graduate school programs that KGU offers include Service Business Administration, Tourism and Hospitality, Public Administration, Education, Industrial Technology and Information, Architecture, Art and Design, Social Welfare, International and Cultural Studies, Alternative Medicine, and Sports Science. KGU has 12 affiliated institutions, such as the Center for Continuing Education, and 11 research centers which have made a huge contribution to the development of the community in which KGU is located.
