About the university
According to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers No 389 on September 1, 2011, the educational institution obtained the status of Vocational Education Competence Centre „Riga Technical College” (hereafter referred to as VECC RTC). VECC RTC is a state founded educational insitution with a structural unit vocational secondary school under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Science. It is located in two premises at 16 Braslas Street and 3 Ledmanes Street, Riga and is divided into four departments. Appx. 2,300 students from all Latvian regions study here and 140 teachers and academic personnel are employed. 9 study programs of the first level of higher professional education (4th professional qualification level) and 10 secondary vocational education programs (3rd professional qualification level) may be acquired, namely, in power engineering, programming, computer systems, electronics, telecommunications, administrative and secretarial service (secretary), administrative and secretarial service (customer service specialist), automotive transport, woodwork and metalwork. As well as this, the educational institution provides the assessment of competences obtained not within the formal education system and organises lifelong learning and professional development training courses in different educational programs for all interested, including unemployed.
