About the university
Ion Creangă Pedagogical State University was founded by the Decree of the Government of the Moldavian SSR from on August 16 1940 the year and originally was called the Chisinau Pedagogical Institute. The Institute included five faculties: history and philology, physics, mathematics, biology and geography . In 1955, the institute was named after the Roman writer Ion Creanga . In 1992, on the basis of the decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova No. 330 of 21.05.1992 "On the reorganization of university education", the institute was transformed into the Ion Creanga State Pedagogical University
