About the university
The University of Oslo (abbreviated UiO) is the oldest and highest ranked university in Norway. The university has over 27,000 students and 6000 employees. The university consists of eight faculties that conduct research in and offer teaching in theology, law, medicine, humanities, mathematical and natural sciences, odontology, social sciences and education. The largest part of the university today is on the Blindern campus, which was expanded from the 1930s. The Faculty of Law is located in the original university buildings at Karl Johans gate, while the Faculty of Medicine is located at Gaustad and university hospitals in the Oslo area. The university has buildings spread throughout central Oslo.
