About the university
The University of Stavanger (abbreviated UiS) is Norway's fifth university established in 2004 when the University College of Stavanger (HiS) obtained university status. The university has 10,888 students and 1372 members, and is organized in three faculties: Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Science and Technology. Archaeological Museum is also part of the university. The university area is located at Ullandhaug in Stavanger and most departments and departments are also located here.
