About the university
Before World War II Bydgoszcz was seen primarily as an industrial, commercial and service. True, they worked here musical institutions and associations such as: Bromberger Konservatorium der Musik (founded in 1904 by Arnold and Wilhelm Winterfeld Schattschneider), the Municipal Conservatory of Music (founded in 1927 by Zdzisława Jahnkego) Music Society. Paderewski (founded in 1922), and several singing societies, but the range of their artistic impact was primarily local. In 1938, on the initiative of the Music Society established the symphony orchestra with director Alfonso Rosler, but its activity ended World War II.
