About the university
University of Silesia in Katowice (Polish: Uniwersytet Śląski w Katowicach) - higher education institution located in the capital of Silesian Province in Poland. It was opened on June 8, 1968, and became the ninth high school at the time in Poland. Most of the faculties are located in the city of Katowice. Other units and departments are located in Sosnowiec (Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Science and Technology, and Faculty of Natural Sciences), Chorzów (Faculty of Science and Technology, and Silesian Centre for Education and Interdisciplinary Research), and Cieszyn (Faculty of Arts and Educational Science). Currently, the university has over 22,000 students, and it offers 79 programs and about 235 majors, including 8 programs conducted in English.
