About the university
In January 1946, the Decree of the Minister of Culture and the Arts, is sent to Wroclaw Jucheniuss Jeppert, with the task of establishing the city of the war-devastated school of fine arts. At the headquarters, the city authorities designated two buildings: the pre-war Municipal School of Crafts and the Art Industry (located in the modern Ul Traugutta.) And the former Academy of Arts and Crafts (pl Polish.). Later in the same year, an open course and exam for the first year of study took place, and on October 15 - the opening of the first academic year. Classes at the university were originally held in the studio of painting, drawing and sculpture, but soon began to organize seminars, ceramics, glass, wood and metal, thus implementing the ministry's recommendation, requiring attention to training for designers reviving glass and the ceramic industry. Employees of the newly founded university created the artist Leon Dozitsky Emil Krča, Staniso Pekalski, Maria Dawska, painter, graphic designer and designer Stanislav Dawski, designer stack Halin Jastrzębowska, interior designers and furniture Uledislo Winkz and Marian Sigmund and ceramists Julius Kotarbińska Rudolf Krziviek, (associated with the pre-war "Management").
