The first two years of study provide general cultural and humanistic knowledge, including specific issues, theoretical and laboratory classes in various areas of cultural studies. Students participate in classes grouped in thematic blocks: 1) theory of culture (anthropology, theories of performance and theatre, film and audiovisual media, language and communication, literature and aesthetics); 2) history of culture (history of ancient and European culture from the Middle Ages to the present day, history of art, history of philosophy, theatre, film, media); 3) Polish culture (history of Poland and the history of Polish customs, history of Polish theatre and contemporary Polish theatre, Polish literature from the nineteenth century to the present day, Polish folklore, Polish aesthetics and art, history of Polish film and contemporary film, Polish language culture; 4) art criticism (prepares to work as a journalist, critic, commentator of phenomena in the field of various areas of artistic culture); 5) contemporary communication behaviours (audiovisual and literary, verbal and non-verbal, mass and network communication, intercultural and visual communication). General cultural knowledge is then deepened through profiled specialization classes, focused on various fields of culture, media and research perspectives. In the third year of studying each student chooses specialization courses along with a bachelor's seminar during which they conduct an individual bachelor's project with the help of the promoter. The project ends with the student writing a diploma thesis, which is the basis for receiving a bachelor's degree in cultural studies. The graduate is a specialist, equipped with tools for the description and analysis of phenomena in the field of film, theatre, audiovisual media, language, advertising, literature, aesthetics, urban space, cultural communication and cultural anthropology. We offer field internships, during which students independently conduct research on the state of traditional and contemporary culture.
