Founded in 1954 by a decision of the Council of Ministers as a continuation of the Faculty of Theology Evangelical and Orthodox School of Theology, established after the First World War at the University of Warsaw . Study of Orthodox Theology has not received permission to resume operations after 1945, while the Department of Evangelical Theology was separated from Warsaw University in 1954 and transformed - with the participation of Old Catholic Churches - in a separate University: Christian Theological Academy; henceforth, there is a section in ChAT Evangelical Theology and Theology Section of the Old Catholic, and since 1957 also a section of Orthodox Theology. Initially, the school was in Chylice near Warsaw (ob. Deacony Evangelical Center "Tabita"), part of the activities took place in the Orthodox Seminary . Since the academic year 1968/1969, the university headquarters is located in the building of the Lutheran Church at Miodowa Street .
