Founded in 1919, Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan (UAP) is the leading art school in Europe. It is also the only university among art schools in the country and a thriving cultural center of supra-regional importance. The idea of pluralism and multidirectionality in the field of education manifests itself in the philosophy of the University of the Arts. It goes about the so-called free-choice studio and education in all areas in the discipline of fine arts, architectural engineering studies, curatorial, postgraduate and doctoral studies, as well as Study in English programs, the Art University of the Third Age and specialized courses. We are inquisitive observers, that is why we constantly research and look for new ways of education and cooperation with the environment. We are invariably committed to the ideas of the university founders – building values that are the basis for the existence and development of a modern society, based on the strength of tradition, and on the other hand, on universal humanism; freedom of thought and freedom of art. In 2016 we opened a new educational building, located studios, television studios and film studios plastic with paint shop (the first in Poland academic areas where students can work with resins ), printing and exhibition space in the lobby. In 2019 the school celebrated its 100th anniversary. In 2021 Poznan University of the Arts was named after Magdalena Abakanowicz. By the decision of the Minister of Education and Science as of February 16, 2023, Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan was awarded the highest scientific category A+ in the discipline of visual arts and conservation of works of art. Being one of the most vibrant institutions of higher education in Poland with a rich history and a thriving cultural center of supra-regional importance, UAP has been gaining many honourable achievements in terms of study and research, size and quality in education.
