About the university
The University was established by the Act of June 19, 1997 as the thirteenth state university in Poland. It employs almost 800 academics, including almost 200 professors; educates level professional studies and graduate more than 12 thousand. students in the system of full-time studies, part-time, evening and extramural. Masters graduates can continue their doctoral studies or in numerous post-graduate studies. The University conducted research uses the natural environment and cultural diversity of the region. The University annually performs approx. 60 scientific projects, financed from domestic and foreign funds. Benefits from the structural funds. UwB successes include participation in the 6th and 7th Framework Program for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration EU Horizon 2020 Comenius and Aspera and DAPHNE III program. In the years 2011-2016 employees UwB submitted 25 patents, including one European. The University has a modern infrastructure for conducting advanced research, particularly in the field of biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. The newly built campus of the University of Bialystok University Computing Center operates.
