About the university
The formation of the Higher Seminary in Rzeszow is inseparably connected with the creation of the Diocese of Rzeszów, which was erected by Pope John Paul II with a bull "Totus tuus Poloniae populus", issued on March 25, 1992. Its territory was separated from two dioceses, Its patron was the Blessed Joseph Sebastian Pelczar (canonized in 2003) and Blessed Karolina Kózek, while the cathedral was the church of the Holy Sacred Heart of Jesus At the time of its founding, the diocese consisted of 202 parishes and 4 rectors, which housed some 600,000 faithful, who were working there for nearly half a thousand. Clerics and 259 sisters and 14 friars.
